Cast Out Fear With Love
2 Timothy 1:6-7 “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
Paul reminds Timothy that God has given him a spirit of power, love, and self-control. Not a spirit of a fear. If we allow fear to take over our thinking, it will then influence our decision making. If we allow people to sow seeds of fear in our mind, we will then make decisions based on fear rather than faith in God’s power.
Fear is a weapon that is frequently used by the evil one to immobilize us and our ministries. The evil one would prefer that we be afraid of people in need instead of reaching out to help them. The evil one would prefer that we hide away to protect ourself instead of thinking about helping others. The evil one would prefer that we keep people away from the church rather than bringing them in.
Let us have a spirit of love, power, and self-control. We were made in the image of God, so let us not live our lives in fear, but instead show that image of God’s love to one another. Let us cast out fear with love.
1 John 4:18a “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”
