Feet Like the Deer
Habakkuk 3:17-19 “Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like the deer's; He makes me tread on my high places.”
The prophet Habakkuk has a beautiful prayer and song before the Lord which reminds us that no matter what happens, to rejoice in the Lord. If there is no food, if there are no herds of sheep, if there is nothing growing, still have joy in the Lord. Have joy in His salvation.
Whatever befalls us is only temporary. The trials of this age will pass away and they are not the be compared with the eternal glory of the Lord. So don’t lose heart when things turn out poorly, but remember to praise the Lord. He will one day make our feet like the light feet of deer, effortlessly jumping free. He will one day set our feet on high places with Him.
Rejoice in the Lord!
