Give Thanks
1 Thessalonians 5:18 “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Giving thanks is more than a polite thing to do or a box to tick in our prayer time. It should be heartfelt gratitude where we are thanking God for something that we could not have done ourselves. A time of humility in praising our wondrous God. If you are struggling to find things to be thankful for, consider these:
Thank the Lord for the mercy He has shown you when you chose to do the wrong thing.
Thank the Lord for the love He has shown you when you chose to reject His love.
Thank the Lord for the forgiveness He has given you when you chose to not forgive someone else. Then pray that the Lord will forgive them too.
Thank the Lord for the patience He has had with you when you became frustrated with Him on how life was turning out.
Thank the Lord for the goodness that is in Him when we have done so much bad to others.
Thank the Lord for the new day you’ve awakened to as it’s a new opportunity to show the love of Christ to someone else.
Thank the Lord for the day you’ve completed and reflect on how you could have done a little bit better for His glory.
Thank the Lord for the trials you have overcome with His grace. These trials test our faith and cause us to draw closer to Him.
Thank the Lord for the consolation you’ve received after the trials have subsided. These times of peace are a wonderful remind to place our hope in Him.
Thank the Lord for not giving up on you when you’ve given up on Him.
