Lord Have Mercy
Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
Asking for the Lord to show us mercy is not a one and done act. Each and every day we need the Lord’s mercy because we stumble. These stumbles can be unintentional sins or more planned fall outs. We need to ask for His forgiveness and mercy anew each day because we are bound to stumble.
The apostle Paul understood this because the things he wanted to do, he didn’t do; and the things he didn’t want to do, he did. How well we can all relate to this. You can be going about your day and then a thought comes in your head that is unkind, critical, judgmental, or downright bad. It can be so frustrating that no matter how hard we try, it always seems to slip through. We can earnestly desire to only live, speak, and think for the Lord and then we have stumbled again almost unwittingly.
The amazing thing about this passage in Lamentations is how it draws attention to the unending love and mercy of the Lord. He knows that we will fall, but He wants us to get back up again each day and continue to seek Him. Don’t fall down and stay down, get backup and be faithful to Him as He is faithful to you.
