Not Forsaken
Psalm 9:9-10 “The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”
In yesterday’s article, we were encouraged by the words of Moses to Joshua to not give into fear because the Lord is with His children. Today, we see another Psalm by David that for those who place their trust in the Lord and seek Him and His ways, the Lord will be there for them. He will be a stronghold to those who are oppressed, persecuted, and beat down with the troubles of this world. We should not despair when tough times come because they will. Tough times will come. However, the Lord is with His children like a parent being there for a child during key milestones in their life and helping them through hardships except unlike our earthly family, the Lord is always with us. He is beside us, leading the way through, and lighting the dark path.
If you feel oppressed and beat down with the worries of the world, reflect on the words of Paul to the church in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;”
And again, another word of encouragement when the hard times come from Hebrews 13:5-6 “for He has said ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’”
