On Things Above
Colossians 3:1-2 “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
In a recent article, the content was about taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and yesterday about keeping our eyes looking directly forward, we are also reminded in Colossians to seek things that are above, where Christ is. Our Lord and Savior is there, seated at the right hand of God the Father. Our Judge, Redeemer, and Savior. Think on Him, think on things above where He is, and don’t dwell on what we have here on this earth because it will all fade away. They will distract us from our relationship with the Lord and what He wants for our lives.
As followers of the Lord we are barraged with things that aim to ground us here. You know this too. So how can we keep our minds on things above if we are not taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ? How can we think on things above if we are letting our eyes wander away from Christ? How can we seek the things of above where Christ if we choose to spend our lives seeking material things of the world? All of us have to be vigilant to protect what we allow our eyes to consume, our minds to nurture, our lips to say, and our hands to do lest we become tempted and ensnared in sin.
