Perfect Power in Weakness
Matthew 10:38 “And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.”
In yesterday’s article, the content was centered around keeping our minds on Christ so that we can live innocently as doves, but also be wise as serpents to the deceptions of the enemy. We will live around wolves and will share the Gospel around those who would wish us reputational damage or even physical harm. Non-believers might revel in an opportunity to justify, in their minds, that you are a hypocrite no different than they.
Not everyone will experience these kinds of trials and hardships. Not all of us will experience persecution. We will be given different crosses to bear whether that be matters related to family, health, poverty, etc. Yet, no matter the cross we have been given to bear, Jesus tells us that we must take it up and follow Him. If you feel that the cross in your life is too heavy, pray. If the persecution is mentally dragging you down, lift up your words to heaven. If your health has made a turn for the worse, then turn your eyes to God. Let Him know that you are struggling under the weight of your cross. Let Him know that you can’t do it without Him.
The apostle Paul describes a persistent thorn in his side which he wanted removed, but God did not take it away. 2 Corinthians 12:9 “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” Let us humble ourselves before the Lord and admit the truth - that we cannot bear the burden of our crosses without His help. May His power be made perfect in our weakness. May we decrease that He may increase.
