Run to Christ
Mark 10:17 - And as He was setting out on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
I noticed the other day a mother with a joyful heart run to her child and scoop them up in her arms and shower them in kisses. The love was visible to all who could see it and there were no other distractions between them and their embrace.
I’ve seen marathon runners run past me through the busy streets as I walked along the sidewalk and they ran past with numbers pinned to their shirts. They were not distracted by me or the city shops around us which were open for business. No, their mind was set on the finish line ahead of them.
The wealthy man in the Gospel of Mark runs up to Jesus and kneels before Him. He doesn’t walk to Jesus to maintain dignity, he doesn’t ride up on a camel or horseback, but he runs with urgency and kneels before Christ. He is undistracted from his goal in asking the Lord Jesus the burning question on his heart.
In my own life, do I run to Christ with love in my heart. Am I joyful because of the opportunity to pray before Him again?
In my own life, do I run as an undistracted marathon runner who has trained for this race? Am I unfazed by the surroundings, keeping my eyes fixed on spiritual progress and growing closer to Christ?
In my own life, do I run to Christ and fall to my knees to ask Him each and every day what He would have me do? Do I bring Him into every decision, every board room meeting, every phone call, every new interaction, every opportunity to seek out His wisdom and guidance?
In my own life, do I run to Christ?
