Steadfast Love
Psalm 36:5-7 “Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast You save, O Lord. How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.”
Have you ever felt that on some days nothing goes right? Everything is falling apart at home, work, family, church, and just life as a whole. The other day, it was feeling it was starting to feel like death by a thousand cuts. There was just a lot of negative things happening in quick succession. Instead of dwelling on the negative any longer, I decided to start doing some work and cleaning up. As I went to clean up the rubbish, I came across a colorful sticker which said “God loves you”.
I stopped and grabbed the sticker. This was no accident. In the moment when I was feeling beat down by the day, I was then reminded in a very simple way about God’s steadfast love. Why didn’t I remind myself of this earlier? Even when things seem like they are falling apart, even when things can be so negative, even when it appears like nothing is working out as planned, God is there and He has not forgotten you or me.
I was moved by this because I hadn’t prayed or vented to God about my feelings that day. I hadn’t confided about the difficulty of that day, but God already knew. He saw me. He ensured that my eyes came across that reminder of His steadfast love. He is always there, He is always faithful, He is always loving. May we always take refuge in the shadow of His wings because He knows our troubles and He cares for us.
