The Spirit Intercedes for the Saints
Romans 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”
This passage brought tears to my eyes when I read it. I have found that I do not always have the right words to share with the Lord in my prayers and rather than rambling on, I will take that time to be quiet with Him. It is a deeply personal time when I pray. Here we are told in God’s Word that the Spirit of God intercedes for us because we do not pray for as we ought to… how wondrous!
He knows what we should be asking for. He knows what trials await us. He knows where we are weakest. He knows where our faith needs to be tested and strengthened. We don’t. As a result of our own blindspots, the Spirit intercedes for us in groanings too deep for human words. He has searched our hearts and knows us better than we know ourselves and as a result, He asks for what we need like an attentive father who knows exactly what his child needs. How wondrous!
Romans 11:33 “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and how inscrutable His ways!”
